The new guidance of management of foreigners in Vietnam

On January 03, 2012, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly issued Joint Circular No. 01/2012/TTLT/BCA-BNG on regulations and procedures of management of foreigners in Vietnam pursuant to Resolution No. 50/NQ-CP dated December 10, 2010, Resolution No. 61/NQ-CP dated December 17, 2010 and Decree No. 21/2001/ND-CP dated May 28, 2001 by Government on the entry, exit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

Joint Circular No. 01/2012/TTLT-BCA-BNG amended and supplemented regulations for foreigners seeking Visa, Temporary Residence Card, and Permanent Residence Card as well as other regulations on management of foreigners in Vietnam pursuant to Joint Circular No. 05/2009/TTLT-BCA-BNG dated May 12, 2009. This Joint Circular also mentioned the changing of forms for foreigners’ management (attached to Circular No. 01/2012/TTLT/BCA-BNG) such:

Application for a Vietnamese Visa: form N1
Application for visa issuance, replacement, modification, or stay extension: form N5
Application for a temporary residence card: form N7A
Information document of the foreigner requesting Temporary residence card: form N7B
Temporary residence card: form N8; Permanent residence card: form N11
Application for permanent resident status: form N9A
Curriculum vitae: form N9B
Application for renewal/replacement of a permanent resident card: form N9C

Joint Circular No. 01/2012/TTLT/BCA-BNG will take effect from February 18, 2012.
